NEWS: Persona Abode joins the Decorex's Sustainability Taskforce
Great news!
Over the last two years, Persona Abode has participated in panel discussions at Decorex to speak about sustainable design. The first opportunity arose in September 2021, when Jecks was joined by two fellow designers to discuss the topic ‘Designing with Wellbeing in Mind’. It was a fruitful conversation at a time when Covid was still rampant and in-person events were either cancelled at the last minute or skipped altogether.
In 2022, a return to in-person events welcomed back Decorex in October. As a Founding member of Interior Design Declares, a few signatories discussed the movement on stage.
If you don’t know about Decorex, let me explain.
Introducing Decorex
Decorex is the biggest interior design trade show in the UK aimed at the high-end market, welcoming visitors from far and wide. Taking place over several days every October, the interior design industry has opportunities to meet face-to-face with different suppliers.
Getting touchy-feely with collections helps us familiarise ourselves with products, ask questions and mingle with industry members. A benefit is that it saves a lot of leg work visiting showrooms, especially brands that come from overseas. There’s a mix of new brands and rising stars alongside more established exhibiting new collections. Plus, panel discussions keep us up-to-date with the latest topics affecting the industry. A glamorous Champayne bar and VIP section also add to the event.
In one capacity or another, Jecks has been frequenting Decorex and other trade shows for over fifteen or so years. Firstly, as a student and once she graduated, next as a fully-fledged interior designer. Of course, it is easy to be drawn in by the aesthetics. Considering sustainability is never far from the thought process, Decorex is ideal for hosting conversations about healthier options for people, place and planet.
The Sustainability Taskforce
Being involved in Interior Design Declares and being quite vocal about thoughts about interior design and sustainability, Decorex invited Persona Abode to be part of the task force. Of course, the task is shared with other design companies and suppliers who share the same ethos of cleaning up the design industry landscape.
We are proud to be working alongside Edward Bulmer, Haines Collection, Holmes Bespoke, Materialise Interiors, Naturalmat, Soho Lighting and Studio Suss.
