Great news! Alongside 8 other UK Interior design practices, Persona Abode is a founding signatory of Interior Design Declares. It’s OK, I don’t imagine you to wear the excitement especially when you’re wondering what Interior Design Declares.

What is Interior Design Declares?

The construction industry has much dirt on its hands as it accounts for a whopping 40% of energy-related carbon emissions. Embedded into the fold is the interior design sector. However, given the ever-evident consequences of past design choices, there has never been a more important time to change behaviours.

Collectively, positive change can happen at a much faster rate. With that in mind, 9 UK interior design practices founded the interiors arm of the Construction Declares umbrella to start shifting current practices.

The Pledge

Creating a safe and healthy future calls for action today. The pledge shows the commitment to do better to benefit the individual projects that designers work on and the future of our planet. As it’s early days, there’s much planning to take place and action steps to take.

What’s Next

The plan is to reach out to the design industry, spreading awareness of the repercussions of making unsustainable choices and finding solutions to complex dilemmas. As such, others joining the pledge can be interior designers and suppliers to the industry. Stay tuned!

Interior designer Jecks founded London based Persona Abode Interiors to create spaces with health and happiness is at the heart of every project.

Persona Abode takes to approach to creating concepts seriously, choosing to take a deep dive into research to help amplify client’s personal idea of beauty throughout their home. As a result, the Studio develops purposeful, and ethically kinder, solutions to express love and compassion for those who matter the most and the wider world that nurtures us all.

In 2017 Jecks became vegandesign.org certified to better design interiors without the use of animal based products. She writes also, using a perspective that design should offer a heightened sense of dignity to all people, as well as sustainability being a major factor within the entire design process and and holistic approach is ultimately beneficial to people, place and planet.

Persona Abode is an active founding signatory of Interior Design Declares, established in 2021 by a group of 9 interior design companies. Together to advocate for change within the interior design industry, pledging to do our part in the fight against climate change and the biodiversity crisis.
